The Department of
Decision Sciences in the Lundquist College of Business at the University of
Oregon is seeking to fill, contingent on position approval, one tenure-track
faculty position in Applied Statistics.
Rank: Assistant or Associate Professor of Applied Statistics.
Employment Beginning: September 16, 2010
Description: We are seeking a candidate who will fully contribute to the intellectual activities of the department and provide high quality teaching in the areas of Applied Statistics at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Research and teaching interests should be in the areas of econometrics, data mining, forecasting, and multivariate statistical methodologies. It would also be highly desirable for the applicant to have an interest in either Operations Management or Management Information Systems.
In addition to its emphasis on research, the Lundquist College targets the
development of certain skills in our students and faculty, especially the
ability to pursue cross-disciplinary initiatives. Therefore, the ability
to engage with one or more interdisciplinary signature centers in the college
will be a plus. The successful candidate will have the ability to work
effectively with faculty, staff, and students from a variety of diverse
backgrounds.
Qualifications: Assistant level: Candidates must have a
completed or nearly completed Ph.D. degree in Applied Statistics; demonstrated
potential for teaching and research excellence. Associate level: Ph.D. degree
in Applied Statistics; a record of scholarly accomplishment and demonstrated
teaching competence.
Salary: Competitive.
